Sani Lodge Selfcatering

SITUATION

Honeyguide is a cosy, private, stone-clad cottage on the Sani Pass road, nestling at the base of the little 'Berg on the 75 acre Stromness Farm, which borders onto the uKahlamba Drakensberg Park world heritage site.The cottage has magnificent views of Hodgson's Peaks (The Giant's Cup) and the escarpment bordering onto Lesotho. This peaceful country haven is owner-run by Simone and Russell Suchet, who have been involved with many aspects of tourism for several years.

ACTIVITIES

This is an ideal place for a family holiday, as there are plenty of activities and tours which can be arranged including hiking, Sani Pass tours into Lesotho, horseriding and bushman paintings. There is something for the whole family; trout/bass fishing on nearby dams, relaxing on the verandah enjoying the magnificent views, children can feed rabbits and play on swings at the tea garden 100m away from the cottage, the whole family can enjoy the 2.5km nature trail with guide booklet.

ACCOMMODATION AND TARIFFS

Honeyguide is a compact cottage with 2 bedrooms - the main bedroom has a double bed ,while the second bedroom is the smaller and has two single beds pushed together. A child's campcot is available on request. The kitchennette is equipped with fridge, stove, cutlery, crockery, kettle and microwave and a breakfast nook. There is a cosy lounge with open fireplace, bathroom ( shower, toilet , handbasin) and an outdoor braai on the veradah. All linen including feather down duvets, bath towels and soap is provided. The cottage has basic daily servicing. Laundry service available.

MEALS AVAILABLE
A restaurant on the property called "The Giant's Cup" is open daily for breakfasts, light lunches, homemade cakes, farmhouse cheese, trout, cappuccino, teas, milkshakes and lots more. The craft shop offers a wide range of African crafts, maps, books, woollen wear, foodstuffs, softdrinks.
Evening meals are also available if booked in advance.

DIRECTIONS
An easy 3 hour drive from Durban central or 6 and1/2 hours from Johannesburg.

Take the N3 motorway from Johannesburg or Durban until you reach the R617 turnoff to Underberg. In Underberg, turn right to Himeville which is 5km from Underberg. Drove on through Himeville for approximately another 4km until you reach the Sani Pass Road on your left. Honeyguide cottage is 10.5km down this road on the left hand side.
